CINCINNATI: Greenebaum Doll & McDonald PLLC is pleased to announce that Frank J. Bitzer, Of Counsel in the firm’s Cincinnati office, has been invited to become a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel (ACEBC).
Membership in the ACEBC is by invitation only. Fellows are selected by the ACEBC’s Board of Governors from among recommendations by the Board’s Membership Committee. Employee Benefits attorneys nominated for this honor are selected based on a demonstrated and sustained commitment to the development and pursuit of public awareness and understanding of the law of employee benefits, through such activities as writing, speaking, participating in public policy analysis, public education or public service and representation projects, and leadership in the employee benefits activities of bar associations or other professional organizations. All new members must have at least twenty years experience as a benefits attorney.
Mr. Bitzer is a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS). Prior to joining the Employee Benefits practice at Greenebaum, he served as ERISA Legal Counsel and Assistant Vice President of Fifth Third Bank. He also served five years as a Journeyman Level Investigator with the U.S. Department of Labor - Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration (now known as the Employee Benefits Security Administration), charged with enforcing compliance with the fiduciary provisions of ERISA for the nation's million-plus ERISA qualified employee benefit plans.
Mr. Bitzer's areas of concentration at Greenebaum include matters ranging from institutional trust and custody matters to plan investment issues, plan qualification, fiduciary matters, HIPAA, COBRA, HSA's, IRA's, management of regulatory oversight, health and welfare benefit matters, 409A/NQDC and proprietary benefit matters. He has co-authored a number of employee benefits books during his career, including ERISA Facts, Benefits Facts, Insider's Guide to DOL Audits, The Coverage and Nondiscrimination Answer Book, and The Pension Answer Book Forms and Worksheets. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati and his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.
